So, through they mire that is my sleep my dreams shifted to me and another person, someone I'd known in high school but do not particularly keep in touch with now beyond the occasional facebook update. So she and I are reading something on the internet about inner elements. She scoffs at the idea that people command only one element within them, or houses only one at the very least. So she puts her hands on my neck and concentrates. She tells me that all 4 elements exist in everyone and that two of my elements are active and two are not. I then see 4 circles appear in my field of vision, two are glowing brightly, two are not. Earth and Fire are predominant while water and air are faded and in the background.

Its interesting, and I'll ponder more on it later.

Lots of love,

Ori

A new project!

Hello Readers,

So I started drawing a comic a little while ago, around the same time I was hashing out doll patterns and designs. It features a few Weavers of note, but the story is very much..."making it up as I go along" so its very fun to draw. I will not post it, however, until I complete the whole thing, edit it, and have it ready to post. I did other comics and could never finish them, leaving a few people really disappointed so I'd rather not do that again. I also don't have a title for it, and I have a feeling I won't know what it will be until the work is finished, all the more incentive, right?

Today will be a chill day. I got my "Daria" box set in the mail on Wednesday and I've been working my way through. I loved that show when I was in middle school, back when alternative music was cool and I worshiped bands like the Smashing Pumpkins, Bush, and The Cranberries. So it takes me back to 1997 in a good way and in some ways reminds me of how cynical I was at that age. I'm much more cheerful now, thank goodness.

Anyway, I keep saying I'm going to start posting about the types of Weavers, but I'm thinking I'll wait a while until the comic is done and incorporate the bulk of that info in with the story, as well as character bios, since each Weaver type is represented.

Anyway that's all for now. Have a happy Saturday!

lots of love,

Ori

Advice on Litteral Interperatation and Figurative of Fantasical Claims

Hello Readers,

A few things before I get started on the main point of this post. Nutmeg and I are going to be embarking on a join crafting venture soon and I'm rather excited about it. She is ridiculously good at knitting, crocheting, and sewing. I've always had a knack for making plushies and dolls. With our powers combined, I'm going to create some small dolls of, you guessed it, representations of the various weaver types. I know I haven't posted them yet but I'm hoping to put out the first "profile" out sometime next week. I simply can't stop editing it :(. Please check back in a few weeks on the status of those dolls.

Anyway I was poking around on some metaphysical forums again and stumbled across a few topics where people new to the otherkin and or metaphysics groups made some very colorful posts. Posts that have extraordinary claims or "fluff" stories, where people feel they are actually a demigod, princess of elves, and or other similar caste are often dismissed as egotistical babble and often admonished by the group at large. Who honestly could blame them, there is only so much of that sort of thing that I myself can take. But are these grand claims merely fantasy, or could they actually be useful to the individuals who hold them if framed in the right way. If taken literally these fluff posts seem comical but if one gets to know the individual's life story the picture can become a bit clearer as to why they think that way. Rather than writing them off, there could be a deeper, possibly allegorical meaning to the story. Or it could just be bad interpretation on medications and visions from the claimant's part.

Even if you feel very strongly that something about you is true, that you are actually a princess in charge of saving her people from extinction and etc, there are a few steps I suggest you follow before asking others about it, especially if they are strangers who know nothing about your life.

1) How would I react if someone said this to me?

Just like anything else, think a bit before you say something to someone who, in particular, doesn't know you. First impressions are everything even among the otherkin and metaphysical community. People's tolerance levels vary and if you yourself would not except a claim, think before you make it and expect others to accept it.

2) I have feelings, memories, and visions! What I see must be what actually happened!

I don't know about you all, but I can never remember the same real life memory the same way, let alone meditations. Sometimes our mind is a really miraculous thing. It can tell us things we need to know, or already know in very creative and interesting ways, ways that are both fantastic and attention grabbing. These memories or visions may not be as they seem, both rather a representation of something that may be happening in your life. Take a step back and think for a moment. If this what literally happened, or a symbolic and interesting way to think of events or situations that are happening to me in my life right now?

Am I willing to tell strangers about my personal meditations, even with the anonymity of the internet?

Words hurt whether they are in the air, on paper, or on a computer screen. If you're just putting ideas out to test the waters, then whether or not your ideas are accepted matter little to you. But for those of you who do care, and do seek some measure of acceptance or approval, its better that you find a close confidant to express these ideas with, not a general forum or community. Communities are great to share opinions on general topics, or to get feedback on your ideas, but if you post something personal looking for someone to say "yes that is correct" its best not to post at all because no one can tell you that.

Well that's all for now. I'll be spending some time looking at materials and doll patterns for the dolls. I'll post pictures :)

Lots of love,

Ori

The 5 Aspects of Weaving

Hello Readers,

I've been a bit under the weather lately. Sorry for the delay in posts. Before I get to the meaty main topic for this post, a few happy mundane things. My close friend Nutmeg, a bit worried about me since I was sick AGAIN made me an awesome "Mediterranean Eye" bracelet. Its really awesome, she found the beads herself and wove the chain. I also have had my life and ipod taken over by Lady Gaga. Songs I particularly like (and have stuck in my head) are "Pokerface", "Bad Romance", "I like it Rough", "Telephone", and "Teeth."

And on that note, more of the weird. I went over this quite a few times and I think its finally well developed enough to post. So...

While The Fountain is far too great and expansive for my mortal mind to grasp, there are 5 forces in play that represent aspects of The Fountain that make it easier for Weavers and Humans to understand their universe in a spiritual way. The 5 Aspects of Weaving are these forces which are symbolized as 5 colors: Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, and White. These forces present themselves to the viewer in different ways, based on the individual’s perception of that these forces represent.

White – “The Essence”

White represents the aspect known as “The Essence” or the base energy of the universe broken down to the most basic level. This aspect is represented and championed by The Prime (a type of Weaver I will go into more detail about later) but treasured by other Weavers as well (none of which are known to me at this time). To me, this aspect takes the form of a great white stag, the quiet observer only moved to action when absolutely necessary. On a personal level, The Essence represents my relationship with the divine, and a very personal relationship with that which is all. I took the surname “Whitedeer” to honor and embrace my connection to this force. This is just my perception; others may view this aspect with what they feel best represents the sensibilities of neutrality, potential, observation, balance, and serenity.

Red – “The Terrors”

Red represents the forces of final cataclysm, direct and violent change, purging, and divine retribution. This aspect is championed by The Destroyers, and by default (much to the chagrin of The Destroyers) the Weavers know as “The Defilers” as well. This force is rarely seen in the physical world, even in the darkest times. Even death, as permanent as it seems, isn’t really, since most people believe in an afterlife. Only in times of great disaster, such as the destructive end of a great dynasty, extinction of a race or to the extreme nature of a sun or planet dying does the red aspect come into play. To me, this force is represented as a phoenix. While the force itself never changes, the consequences of its nature are everlasting. All that surrounds it is burn into nothing, ash, and while the force is renewed the things is touches are not.

Yellow – “The Joys”

Yellow represents the positive forces of life, joy, happiness, contentment, and all that is good in the universe. All that enriches life and gives it meaning. This aspect is championed by the Life Givers and called to by the Artisans, those who strive for perfect days and the ones who can make great art out of garbage. This force is represented, to me, as a yellow tabby cat. When I envision it, it can see it playfully chasing after small butterflies.

Blue – “The Mysteries”

True to the concept, the blue aspect has the greatest number of champions among Weaver types. Blue represents the unknown, the cloudy, all that is hidden or obscured. It is championed by Keepers of Masks, but the Dreamweavers and Chaotics are also represented. To me, this force takes the form of a cobalt wolf. It’s standing with an angry snarling face, but the viewer not knowing if it will lunch to bite or simply walk away. This is the force of dreams, personas, and reflections.

Green – “The Growth”

Green is the aspect of creation both in the negative and positive sense. It is the driving force of existence and does not judge the value of existence for better or worse. Growth has both negative and positive meaning: Growth of the mind, body, and spirit are all positive things. Growth of malignancies both mental and physical is not. While something is being destroyed, it allows for the creation of something else. This notion is similar among the Creators, champions of the green aspect and Destroyers though neither group will admit it. The Green aspect, to me, is represented by a great green grizzly bear. The bear is neither robust nor dying, but seems to be in a constant state of dull pain. In many cultures the bear is a strong, positive symbol but to others it represents brutality and savagery. Green is the aspect of both life and death.

I will be, as mentioned in other posts, be going into detail on the Weaver types and how they embody these aspects. Anyway, that's all for now.

Lots of love,

Ori

Its all building to something...

Hello Readers,

I know I haven't made a post in a few days. Sometimes things don't come as quickly as I'd like them to. But I'm taking my time with the next bit of Weaver-ness as its a bit complicated and heavy. So expect a post on "The 5 Aspects of Weaving" sometime this weekend. Its been a hectic week on the real world front. Although I really should stop torturing myself by looking at puppies I know I can't well adopt until my housing situation is a bit more stable. Still, found a little mutt with a yin-yang pattern on her face and I was smitten.

In other news, Nutmeg has started her own blog based around her own spiritual and mundane musings. I'm following her now, and you should to. You can find her blog at: http://unhyphenateduu.blogspot.com/

Well that's all for now. My skin feels so much better now! I have the song "Nights in White Satin" by The Moody Blues stuck in my head, so that will be the song recommendation for the day. Very moving, soothing, and poetic! Gotta love it, Well I've made myself some Sakura green tea and I'm ready to write a little more in the Weaver series. Today's topic is a touchy one; its a subject many people struggle with and, in my opinion, puts more stress on people than it should. Gender and Sexuality play an integral role in how people define themselves for good or for ill. I will go into how these issues come into play for Weavers, and how Gender/Sexuality are dealt with in their human incarnations.

On the Issue of Gender

Gender, as defined in some Sociology courses, is a social construct; a set of rules on how one should behave driven by one's sex (male or female). Since Weavers are ethereal beings, they do not innately have a sex, therefore they have no gender in their purest state. Sure Weavers may favor, what they view, as gender based on the set of rules made by humans. Some Weavers may strongly identify themselves as male, based on what they perceive as manliness, same for those who identify as female. But for those who identify as both or neither, the idea of gender can be somewhat problematic.

I am one such Weaver who sees itself as both/neither because I identify with both sets of rules to some degree. I love nerdy things like video games, manly things like drinking beer or playing sports (some of which have become more acceptable female activities over the years) and the like. At the same time I am sexually straight, enjoy girlish things like going to spas and shopping and etc. But I don't define myself by my gender/sex like so many people tend to. For some, not thinking of themselves as "man" or "woman" first and foremost can be a nightmarish thing. This is often not the case with Weavers.

Weavers, on the whole, tend to define themselves by the content of their personality and character first, rather than gender because of their ability to be both (if you believe in reincarnation, Weavers can be born male or female from one life to another and it wouldn't really make a huge difference to them. Its just organs and hormones. Annoying, annoying hormones :P). This does not mean all Weavers agree with homosexuality or bisexuality although many do. I myself have no issue with what people choose to do in the privacy of their own home (or in the woods, or at a club etc) but despite my gender identity, I am only sexually attracted to those of the opposite sex. Others may feel the exact opposite. Since Weavers only loosely define themselves by labels (even being a Weaver is a secondary self definition) as opposed to defining the self, by the self.

On Sexuality

From what I've gathered there are two extreme sets of human-formed Weaver sexual philosophies: The Devotee and The Freeheart. Not every Weaver fits into these two boxes, many lying somewhere in between. A lot of Weaver sexuality and philosophy has to do with a basic personality construct. Since Weavers are drops from The Fountain, an integral part of their being is either the need to share, experiencing all they can from life and or a number of sexual partners or their need to remain as they are, only exposing themselves to one bonded partner. These two extremes are so basic that it often governs how a Weaver interacts sexually, rather than their gender or sexual organs. Sex, in and of itself, is a spiritual experience and even the most casual Freeheart feels that the activity holds special meaning, even when others view it as lewd or whoreish.

The Devotee is a Weaver who actually fears loosing the self, fears rejoining with the fountain. So the Devotee will only share themselves and their energies with a few. The perfect scenario for the Devotee is marriage, waiting and choosing a mate that is both trustworthy, honest, and a positive influence. This could lead to a deep longing and profound loneliness but despite this deep need to bond with another (especially among Prime Weavers), a Weaver will likely not give in to that desperation, making them seem picky or snobbish when it comes to choosing a mate.

The Freeheart is the opposite. They want it all! They can be extremely involved, even devoted to their chosen partners like the Devotee but they have a thirst to share, experience, and find new and exciting energies in whatever they do. These Weavers look forward to rejoining the fountain when it is their time and can develop a deep longing to disburse their energies as soon as possible. They are not suicidal, by any means, but the best, most proactive and fun activity to those who find themselves in human form is often sough out in mass quantities. This might be judged as immoral, or unsafe due to diseases but those thoughts do not impede the Freehearts.

Everyone is different of course, I'm just presenting the general rule and opposing ends of the spectrum on these subjects. Well that's all for now. If you have any questions or if there is something I didn't touch on, please feel free to post your comment here or shoot me an email.

Lots of love,

-Ori

Sakura Matsuri , a sore zore!

Hello Readers,

So I got up, all be it late this morning, got cleaned up and donned my favorite dingy kimono and went to the Washington DC Cherry Blossom Festival today. The day itself couldn't have been more perfect kimono weather. It was sunny, cool, and only slightly windy. There was a ton of people there ranging from fellow kimono wearers like me, to anime cosplayers, to fur suiters (I was like, what are you people doing at a Japanese festival, you're not even dressing as Japanese animals!) Neon pink wolves aren't even found in anime. Anyway, everyone was having a lot of fun though the food lines were ridiculously long. I met up with Nutmeg and her friends and we got to watch a bunch of dancing and taiko performances.

I managed to snag a cute two person tea pot and cup set, some sakura green tea, a white parasol for the moments where I was baking in the sun, and a nice indigo colored bag with white bunnies on it for Nutmeg. She seemed to really like it, which is good becuase I couldn't find a single thing I wanted.

Here's a tip for Japan enthusiasts: DO NOT BUY KIMONO AT THESE EVENTS. The majority of it is used stuff that you could get at flea markets in Japan for less than a dollar. Literally! And they were charging 150.00$ for used clothing. Total ripoff. Nutmeg informs me that during her stay in Kyoto she got a 20 gallon bag full of kimono and various garb for 20 yen, that's less than a quarter!

We also stopped by some museums after wards but I was so tired from walking all day that I nearly fell asleep on the benches. But I'm home now, sipping some Nigori (unfiltered) sake, and cuddled up in my pj's waiting on some pizza delivery since I'm just too tired to make myself some dinner.

On the weaving front, my next post will be on gender issues and how weavers perceive sex and gender. I'm looking forward to that post, I hope you all are!

Lots of Love,

Ori

Will a Weaver by any other name...

Hello Readers,

Work was a little hectic today. A co worker is leaving, and we had a bit of a party for her. One of my other co workers made these medieval Jamaican wings. If you could survive the after burn, tasted so good! Looked at dogs again today, still have yet to see the pup for me. Other than that, not a whole lot going on.

On to the post's main topic. Weavers' language and naming. To be honest, from what I can gather, Weavers only use names and language when dealing with their younger siblings. Since they are an energy based race, energy transfer is their main avenue of communication. Instead of a name to identify a friend, a single feeling is all they need to identify one another. To get an idea of this, picture your best friend in your mind, what are some of the feelings you get when you think of them? Do those feelings change when you call your friend Jill as opposed to Shannon? Or do those names really matter when compared to the feelings you get? This isn't a new idea; the notion of language and how our feelings and thoughts are constructed by them has been pondered by literary critics and general people alike.

But people can't go around thinking of their loved ones and automatically being able to communicate through shared feelings. Because of this, Weavers have adapted their own language development methods. There is no "Weaver Language" spoken or otherwise. Weaver will simply speak the language of the younger siblings. This gives them a natural knack for language and picking up new languages on the fly if in human form.

The issue of language also poses the question: If Weavers don't use language, how can they have names? Do they have names? Its a tricky question. The idea of names is very important to many Weavers. While human names do have meanings, they are often less telling about a person since they are given at birth and are often a parent's favorite name or a name of another relative. If a Weaver is giving a name, or "title" as some call it, it is just that. A Weavers name can change, in fact it may have a different name from person to person depending on their relationship. It is similar to the concept of "James" as apposed to "Jim" as opposed to "Jimmy." Each name give a different feeling, but each refers to the same person. Which is the individual's 'real' name? Which version of the name fits the person best? To the world, James is James. To his friends, he is called Jim. To his significant others, he's Jimmy. Who is correct? Are they all? Names are like gifts to many Weavers, because they do hold a definite meaning, a more solid and concrete way to be identified. Having many nicknames can be pleasing, and the inability to associate the self with any one name can be very difficult.

But when Weavers do choose names for themselves, it is done very carefully. Usually, the name is a vocal representation of their core being; if who they are changes, so does their name. For example, if a red Weaver named "Fireheart" becomes blue it may change its name to "Waterheart." But such dramatic changes are rare among the majority of Weavers. Once they choose a name that best corresponds with their core, they typically stick with it until another great spiritual shift occurs.

Well that's enough for now. I think I'm going to head to bed. Have a happy weekend readers.

Lots of Love,

Ori

Weavers - More on "The Fountain"

Hello Readers,

As I mentioned, here is one of the follow up posts to the Weaver introduction. This post will go into the concept of "The Fountain" and how it relates to Weavers and the various human concepts of "the divine."

The Fountain, in my perception, is everything. In Catholicism, the concept of "God is everything, God is in everything" is often taught. To many this holds true, and to a Weaver it is even more so. The big difference is "The Fountain" has no one form, no heavenly father for us to recognize grab on to. This makes it, for better or worse, a far looser concept. I will do my best to convey it in my own limited view, not as it may pertain to humans who have their own beliefs, but how The Fountain relates to all Weavers.

If The Fountain is the basin, its Weavers are the tiny droplets that spill from it. They are not avatars, nor are they at the messiah level. They are far closer to what humans are, simply older, exist on a different plane when not in human form, and made of different energy. The Fountain does not guide, does not punish, does not act directly. It instead acts through its aspects and eldest Weavers. Because no "droplet" has the ability to perceive The Fountain, it is vital that the great parents and aspects exist, just as it would be important for humans to have the image of a god, Buddha, or other exalted beings. Below is the "order" from greatest to least:

- The Fountain -
- The Aspects -
- The Great Parents -
- Weavers/Humans -

The relationship of Weavers to The Fountain's representatives is often similar to the traditional child-parent scenario. Depending on the type of Weaver, these relationships can range from extremely strict (Destroyers), patient and wise (Prime) Free and do as you please (Life Givers) highly involved, (Creators) to very little contact at all (Dream Weavers, Chaotics).

Though this is, of course, a very big generalization. Each Weaver experiences the divine force differently, just like their younger siblings. Some don't at all but for a Weaver this is very rare.

Well that's about all I can write for now. I think I'm going to head to bed. Have pleasant dreams readers!

Lots of Love,

Ori

Strange Occurrence: The Little Sister and the Eye

Hello Readers,

Once in a while, I may have some wacky things happen to me that might make for some good stories. Interesting dreams, spooky coincidences, and the like. I will call these posts "Strange Occurrences" or "SO's".

So some interesting spooky shenanigans have been taking place that did not come to my full attention until around lunch time today. My younger sister, we’ll call her “Nutmeg”, suffered some nasty injuries over the weekend. Why is this a strange occurrence? Allow me to explain.

So this past Saturday I went to the mall with my mom to look for new work clothes (my shoes were close to having holes in them). As per usual we went our separate ways and I explored the dwindling number of shops I’m actually interested in (see the post entitled “the day the bookstores died” for more info) but I did purchase a really nice silver butterfly adorned with the Mediterranean eye ward. It’s often called “the evil eye” but that’s what it’s supposed to ward against and for better or worse, is what it’s come to be known as. I bought it for myself, but I had a constant nagging feeling every time I looked at it, that it was not meant for me, but more specifically for Nutmeg (she loves butterflies). I thought it might have been purely for that fact that she was to have it, but I probably should have known better given the nature of the ward.

So I get the ward back to the car and notice a small crack on the inside I didn’t see was there when I bought it. I also gave her a call to let her know about the purchase but she didn’t answer her phone. I immediately felt a small sense of worry and thought “Aww, I wonder if she’s ok.” I knew I would see her today and when I did, the reason why she did not pick up became evident. Nutmeg had been injured, and as I found out, the incident occurred around the time I purchased the eye ward. The aftermath was around the time I’d called, and was the reason she didn’t answer her phone. Spooky isn’t it?

I had another semi-spooky though more amusing occurrence actually happened today as well. Earlier in the day, I got to work a tad early so I did a little bit of doodling. I drew Nutmeg as she sometimes envisions herself astrally. I knew the name she usually took though for some reason, an extra part of the name came to mind. When I went to look up the Japanese symbol for the name, I was immediately amused. The symbol I found translates to “little sister.” When I handed her the drawing, she immediately commented on the bag I drew the character holding. She apparently has one exactly like it, but I’ve never seen it before as it was a gift from a mutual friend. She uses said bag to keep her stones. Lots of interesting stuff, whether it’s actually phenomena or just a string of weird coincidences, that’s up to you readers.

I plan on making another post in the "Weavers for Dummies" series (it wont really be called that, no worries) sometime tomorrow. Otherwise, work was pleasant today (everyone seemed really worried about me, since I'd been sick the week before and took off Monday for Easter Travel). I think I'm just going to relax for the rest of the evening, maybe burn some sage and meditate a little before bed later on.

Lots of Love,

Ori

Weavers - An Introduction (and Disclaimer)

Hello Readers,

More than a few of you have asked: "Ori, what exactly are these "Weavers" you keep going on and on and on and on about (etc etc)" So part of the reason for creating this blog was to explain some of what I have gained through years of mediation and thought. I must stress that this is just my perception, what I've come to know, of something that may be purely metaphorical for my own life (real life lessons expressed symbolically in ways that both entertain and enrich me), or something to be taken in a more literal, mythical sense. It is up to you, readers, to choose how to interpret the information presented here. Its not absolute truth, not any of that stuff, just the end result of lots of musing and the like. This post will touch on the general definitions, nature, and origin of "Weavers" and I will go more in-depth in future posts. If there are questions or comments they will be addressed in said future posts.

So here we go. Let start with a few dictionary-style definitions:

1) A Weaver is an ethereal being built from the base energy of existence itself, with the ability to weave energy in certain ways depending on type.

2)There are several different known types, all with differing personalities and sensibilities depending on the energy it is comprised of.

3)The Weaver is to the human as an elder sibling is to the younger sibling.

There are some basic ideas, now I'll build on them a bit.

The Fountain and the Droplets

The idea of The Fountain and the Droplets is to explain the Weaver's relationship to "God" (or your choice of divine guiding force here). I personally see "God" not as a person or even a thing, but everything. A force so vast that I don't even want to try and understand it. But from this fountain comes the droplets, the Weavers. The Weavers are the first, and possibly closest manifestations of this force, equal only to their younger siblings, also made in "God's" images, the humans. As nearly literal drops from the fountain, Weavers, like the angels serve the purpose of the fountain, building and destroying as it wills(think ethereal construction workers. The fountain wants a world built, it sends its Weavers to do the grunt work. It needs a species destroyed? Weavers do that too). But unlike angels and more like humans weavers have free will but immense sense of duty, dignity, and honor to temper their gifts and talents. Those few Weavers who choose not to use their abilities in harmony, are simply destroyed; no Weaver can escape this fate as no creature can escape the eye of the Fountain. But the occurrence of this is rare, as few Weavers have any desire for selfish things. It is not until a weaver enters the state of humanity are they subject to their younger siblings' pitfalls. Weavers often enter humanity for many different reasons: some are here to teach, but many others to learn. Weavers, like humans, have souls that need guidance that is why they, unlike some other creatures, have a somewhat easier transition into their human existences.

The Weaver Types

There are many kinds of Weavers, only a few of which are currently known to me. Those are: The Prime (white), The Destroyers(red), The Life-Givers (yellow) The Creators (green) The Dream Weavers (indigo) The Keepers of Masks (blue) and The Chaotics (violet). All work together to maintain balance though some prefer to stick to their own kind, as many creatures do. I will make another post, describing each type in depth.

The 5 Aspects

Though Weavers come from The Fountain, not all are able to connect to it directly, especially Weavers in human form. There are 5 aspects of the Fountain, 5 guiding forces representing the 5 aspects of life (earth, fire, wind, water, life). Each Weaver can feel a connection to one of these forces and their symbolic meaning, based on personality, life experience, and type. This is still very much a "work in progress" and I will make several follow up posts as new information pops up.

Weavers as Otherkin

This is sort of a tricky notion. As some of you may or may not know, and Otherkin is someone who feels, very strongly, that their soul is not human. They feel akin to other beings, like Elves, animals, angels, and etc. A Weaver as a human does fit the bill in some ways but doesn't in others. A Weaver's essence is too close to human, but different enough to be classified as inhuman. In this situation, as in many who find themselves to be Weavers, its not the "what" that matters, but the "who". Since the human and Weaver are siblings from the same parent, the differences are so subtle that one's character far outshines the abilities of the races.

Weavers: Daddy always blames what they do on me!

As the older siblings, Weavers not only have their chores to do, but they are also tasked with taking care of their younger siblings. This leads to one of the biggest "laws" a Weaver lives its life by: A Weaver must NEVER use its abilities on its younger siblings. This is never really an issue, especially for Weavers in human form because, as you may have guessed, Weavers in human form can't cast fireballs or unweave people into little balls of meat-yarn.

Well that was a long post. That should give everyone a gist of the whole Weaver thing. If there is anything I missed, please please please feel free to ask. You may post your comments here, or send them via email and I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Good night,

- Ori

Orifiel the Whitedeer

Hello Everyone,

So since this blog is very new, and I know many of you don't know anything about me or what this blog is about, I thought an "about me" post was in order. But first, song you should listen to of the day is: "Tonight, Tonight" by The Smashing Pumpkins.

Anyway, I took the name "Orifiel Whitedeer" to describe what I have become spiritually. A mix of my past life as a christian, and my life going forward as a freer spirit. Allow me to break it down.

Orifiel - lesser known angel from the Cabalah. It (since I don't believe angels, demons, ethereal, and etc have a true sex) is the angel of the literal and figurative wilderness. It calls everyone to nature both outside and within themselves. Internal nature being their true, honest self. A self devoid of lies, guile, and greed. As you might have noticed from a previous post, honesty is possibly one of the most important things to me and when I discovered this angel I felt an immediate connection. So I sure it doesn't mind me using its name, so long as I do my best to represent it well.

Whitedeer - This one is a little more abstract. The White deer is something I've seen for a very long time in meditations. Whenever I'm sad, depressed, or feeling very lost, the image of the white deer comforts me. Whether it is purely symbolic or some kind of spirit guide, I feel as if I'm of the white deer.

So there you have it. My mom is pulling me out the door to get a new pair of glasses. I'll post more on the subject of Weavers, as promised, when I have a bit more time to do so.

Lots of love,

- Ori

Dream Recolections, Easter Revalations

Hello People,

So I had an interesting dream last night, so we'll start with that. So I'm in an urban setting, in which giant robots are fighting with machine guns. Me and another random person duck behind some rusty, bullet hole-ridden old clunkers as we get a torrent of bullets fired at us. When the shower is over, I appear unharmed, except a huge part of my calf is missing but I don't even feel it. So I get to the hospital and not only does it still not hurt, but my calf is actually regenerating. The doctors practically ignore me as they do other menial tasks like paperwork and such as my leg suddenly begins to turn all kinds of funk colors. I concentrate really hard and manage to get it to its normal hue as its still healing.

Try to figure that one out.

Anyway, Easter mass was today and once again I felt bored, anxious, and wished I was somewhere else. I think I finally figured out the problem though. I know it wasn't the case with everyone there, but the whole thing felt incredibly...dishonest.

Since a lot of you don't know me very well yet, allow me to explain. I grew up catholic and saw the constant hypocrisy of my fellow "faithful." They would say one thing in church, or worse just go through the motions, and seemingly forget all the wonderfully autistic things they pledged. I personally hate being dishonest in that, if church does not move me and I get no inspiration from participating in the ceremonies, then I shouldn't be there. I feel like I'm lying to the divine. It wasn't until I blocked out all the motions and kneeling and other random symbolic gestures did I really begin to open up and feel the positive energy in the room. that was until the priest, like most priests, went on for 20 minutes about how Catholicism was the only path, everyone else is lost, blah blah blah. I truly hate that attitude but that is for another post.

The one great thing about Catholic mass is that you can sing as loud and as horribly as you want and no one can stop you. I love to sing and the few inspired moments came from that. But the traditional ending song, an adaptation of the ode to joy was left out this year, replaced with some random peppy song I'd never heard before. So it was a bit of a let down.

I know this is just a personal thing, but the Ode to Joy is like a true instance of the divine at work, a true miracle. I feel a bit cheated this year in not being able to participate in it. (For those who don't know, the 9th symphony by Beethoven was composed while he was completely deaf.)

Oh well, in the end, my mom was happy that I went, the Italian guilt has been avoided (for now), and I can hopefully look forward to a tasty piece of lasagna when I get to my aunt's. Everyone have a happy Sunday, try to honest with yourself and enjoy your holidays in your own way.

- Ori

The Day the Bookstores Died

Hello Internet people,

So multiple post in one day but I felt compelled to write about this. So I went to the mall I've gone to for nearly my entire life. Got my ears pierced there as a 1 year old, screaming and all, got my little candies shaped like watermelon, and endless days checking out books in my two favorite stores: B.Dalton and Walden Books. But I returned to my native city only to find that both stores had gone out of business, one completely boarded up the other replaced by a new age rock store (which I am not totally unhappy with. Got me an awesome "evil eye" ward for my room.). For some reason, having those two stores gone feels as if another two bits of my childhood have died. Two less places of comfort to go to while bored out of my mind whenever dragged to the mall.

Oh well, I'll always have Barnes % Nobel....right?

- Ori

So I had this idea...

Hello Internet Dwellers,

So I had this crazy thought on the way home from getting my car serviced today. What if I wrote down the myriad of crazy, interesting, and otherwise funny thoughts that pop into my head from time to time. I've been thinking about writing essays, but video games sap any motivation I have for that type of activity (curse you Blizzard Entertainment!!!). So I thought a blog might be easier to chew on.

I'm thinking of listing a "song you should listen to" in each post. This post's song you should listen to is: "Every Breath You Take" - By The Police. A beautiful song about lost love or terrifying song about an obsessed stalker? You decide.

So its Easter tomorrow. As you might have guessed by the name, Orifiel Whitedeer, I'm sort of Christian, sort of not. But as the well raised catholic person that I am, I'm visiting my parents for the occasion. For those of you with Italian mothers, you know better than to not show up for holidays. I think that goes double for people with Jewish mothers, just not on this particular holiday.

I caught myself wishing people a happy Easter at work the other day, only to have nervous smiles and nods in return. I know not everyone celebrates, but its just odd going from living in a super Catholic area all your life, where christian greetings were usually spoken before any hellos were exchanged, to a melting pot like Washington DC. I'm not blaming anyone for this, of course, but its still funny to see people taking off work for the holiday when they don't actually celebrate it.

So to wrap this all up, Happy Easter to all who celebrate it, happy nice sunny spring day for those who don't. See you next thought.

- Ori
